Briget O’Callaghan is a Principal Lawyer in the Property and Commercial Law team at Harwood Andrews and brings extensive experience from her tenure at a medium-sized Melbourne law firm. She is renowned for her strategic and commercial approach to complex transactions across various industries, including hotel and tourism, social and affordable housing, motorsports, and entertainment.  

Briget’s clients benefit from her experience in dealing with large-scale infrastructure projects across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland in both the hotel and social and affordable housing space. 

Since joining Harwood Andrews in 2024, Briget has played a pivotal role in several significant projects:

1. Advised National Affordable Housing in partnership with Tetris Capital to deliver 483 affordable homes in Southeast Queensland, supported by the Queensland Government’s Housing Investment Fund. 

2. Advised on the development and subsequent acquisition of 96 dwellings in Melbourne under the Social Housing Growth Fund Rapid Grants Round. 

3. Advised on the development of 112 dwellings in Regional Victoria under the Social Housing Growth Fund Build and Operate Program Round.

4. Advising various parties in relation to the recent rounds of the Housing Australia Future Fund tender submissions. This included advising in relation to finance documents with private investors, funding application to Housing Australia and document structures with project partners.

5. Advised in relation to partnership arrangements with developers for the management of dwellings to be delivered as part of the State of Queensland's Build-to-Rent Pilot Project and other projects in Victoria, NSW and Queensland.

Briget’s key areas of practice include:

• Commercial contracts, transactions and advice, including responding to and participating in government tenders;

• Acting for business vendors and purchasers;

• Preparation and negotiation of share and unit sale agreements; Hotel disposals and acquisitions; 

• Asset and business sales; and 

• Advising in relation to the acquisition and/or construction and management of affordable and social housing developments.
